Modelling coffee leaf rust dynamics to control its spread

چکیده
Coffee leaf rust (CLR) is one of the main diseases that affect coffee plantations worldwide. It caused by fungus Hemileia vastatrix . Damages induce severe yield losses (up to 70%). Its control mainly relies on cultural practices and fungicides, latter having harmful ecological impact important cost. Our goal understand propagation this in order propose a biocontrol solution, based mycoparasite inhibits H. reproduction. We develop explore spatio-temporal model describes CLR plantation during rainy dry seasons. show existence solution prove there exists two threshold parameters, basic reproduction numbers, determine stability equilibria for season subsystems. To illustrate these theoretical results, numerical simulations are performed, using non-standard finite method integrate pest model. also numerically investigate impact. its efficiency ensure eradication.

Modelling coffee leaf rust risk in Colombia with climate reanalysis data
Many fungal plant diseases are strongly controlled by weather, and global climate change is thus likely to have affected fungal pathogen distributions and impacts. Modelling the response of plant diseases to climate change is hampered by the difficulty of estimating pathogen-relevant microclimatic variables from standard meteorological data. The availability of increasingly sophisticated high-r...
متن کاملLandscape context and scale differentially impact coffee leaf rust, coffee berry borer, and coffee root-knot nematodes.
Crop pest and disease incidences at plot scale vary as a result of landscape effects. Two main effects can be distinguished. First, landscape context provides habitats of variable quality for pests, pathogens, and beneficial and vector organisms. Second, the movements of these organisms are dependent on the connectivity status of the landscape. Most of the studies focus on indirect effects of l...
متن کاملEffect of foliar application of potassium silicate on the progress of coffee leaf rust
In order to evaluate the effect of potassium silicate spray on the control of coffee leaf rust and coffee yield, an experiment was conducted during the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 growing seasons on Coffea arabica cv. Catuaí Vermelho IAC 144, in a location situated at an elevation of 850 m in Coimbra, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The treatments consisted of: 1 potassium silicate; 2 potassium silicate + co...
متن کاملUsing nondeterministic learners to alert on coffee rust disease
Motivated by an agriculture case study, we discuss how to learn functions able to predict whether the value of a continuous target variable will be greater than a given threshold. In the application studied, the aim was to alert on high incidences of coffee rust, the main coffee crop disease in the world. The objective is to use chemical prevention of the disease only when necessary in order to...
متن کاملCoffee leaf miner resistance
The coffee leaf miner, Leucoptera coffeella, is a common pest of coffee plantations in Brazil. Though it is effective, chemical control substantially increases the cost of production and constitutes a significant risk for the environment. Resistant coffee cultivars have been and continue being developed through classic and molecular selection techniques. Basic knowledge about the biology of thi...
